Emily Borsom joined the MindScope Program in 2022 as an Associate Scientific Project and Alliance Manager. In her current role as an Associate Scientific Program Manager, she oversees the operational success of key initiatives, including the Shanahan Foundation Fellowship, the Summer Workshop on the Dynamic Brain, and the Modeling Software Workshop for Studio D3. Since joining the Allen Institute, Emily has been instrumental in expanding early-career training programs and cultivating strategic partnerships with the University of Washington and Google DeepMind.
Emily earned her PhD from Northern Arizona University, where she conducted research in Emily Cope’s lab focusing on the gut microbiota in Alzheimer’s disease models. Her doctoral work identified distinct microbial communities linked to stages of pathology. Complementing her scientific expertise, Emily holds a Graduate Certificate in Public Health from NAU and a Certificate in Biotechnology Project Management from the University of Washington and UCSD.
