open science

open science for all
Since our founding in 2003, we’ve been a pioneer in open science — and we've seen firsthand what happens when you remove barriers to knowledge. Researchers around the world use our freely available data, tools, and models to power their own discoveries every day. Our open resources have supported breakthroughs in Alzheimer's disease, cancer, autoimmune conditions, and more. We build our resources to be shared, including datasets, analytical tools, methods, models, and reproducibility certificates — because science works best when it belongs to everyone.
we built it to give it away
We built a microscope that can image the whole brain — and shared the instructions for free.
In this video, explore the open science movement: what it is, why it matters, and how it's changing research forever.
open science week
A celebration of open science in all its forms, Open Science Week calls attention to scientists and organizations who share their tools, resources and data openly to accelerate research and discovery. This annual celebration, founded and coordinated by the Allen Institute, takes place during the third week of September.
