Max is a Research Associate in the Gene Therapy Program. In 2022 he became the first member of a new team studying Adeno-Associated Virus based treatments for Parkinson's Disease.Max joined the Allen Institute in 2019 as part of the Lab Animal Services team where he worked to facilitate The highest standard of animal-based research across the Institute.Prior to joining, Max worked at a biotech startup developing in-vitro diagnostics for HIV-1 positive patients. He graduated from Montana State University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology.Max was born and raised in Seattle. When he's not in the lab, Max enjoys gardening, fly fishing on local rivers, and walking his dog Ziah in Carkeek Park.
