Mike is a principal software engineer in the Data and Technology team in Brain Science. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2014 and his MBA in 2022, both from the University of Washington. Prior to working at the Allen Institute, Mike spent four years at Microsoft working on High Performance Computing and AI infrastructure in Azure. He also spent a year at Cerebras Systems as a solution engineer implementing AI models on Cerebras hardware, and 15 years at Cray working on AI and big data analytics on Cray supercomputers.
Mike's research interests are in enabling scientists to make effective use of high performance computing (HPC) and AI resources. He has presented and led workshops and panel discussions on this topic at multiple international HPC conferences.
